A safe, welcoming space for the whole family
Sprout — which stands for Strong Parents Reaching Out Together — is an early intervention programme that takes a whole-family approach to wellbeing. Designed for households with children who have SEND or SEMH needs, Sprout creates a relaxed, outdoor environment where children and their parents or carers can connect, play, and grow together.
Taking place on Saturday mornings, Sprout brings families together through gardening, outdoor play, and creative activities — all in a calm, sensory-friendly setting. Families can engage at their own pace, with no pressure or judgement, surrounded by others who understand their experience.
Sprout is also delivered at Oakwell Hall as part of the Holidays, Activities & Food (HAF) programme during school holiday periods.
What does SPROUT stand for?
Strong Parents Reaching Out Under Trees — a whole-family approach to outdoor wellbeing and peer connection.
What happens in a Sprout session?
Sessions run for two hours every Saturday morning and combine outdoor activities with peer connection in a calm, inclusive group setting.
Family gardening
Hands-on growing activities for all ages — planting, watering, harvesting, and exploring the natural world together as a family.
Creative outdoor activities
Nature-based crafts, sensory play, and imaginative outdoor activities that encourage curiosity and confidence in children and adults alike.
SEND-informed approach
Our team have specialist knowledge of SEND and SEMH — activities are carefully designed to be calm, sensory-friendly, and inclusive for all children.
Peer connection
Meet other families who understand your experience. Sprout creates a genuine community of support, friendship, and shared understanding.
Parent & carer support
Sprout is as much for parents and carers as it is for children. A welcoming space to relax, connect with others, and feel part of a supportive community.
No pressure, no judgement
Families can engage as much or as little as they like. There is no expectation — just a warm, welcoming space at your own pace.

Also at Oakwell Hall — HAF holiday sessions
During school holidays, Sprout is delivered at the beautiful Oakwell Hall as part of the Holidays, Activities & Food (HAF) programme. Check the activity calendar for upcoming holiday session dates.
