About Bud

Grow in confidence, connect with nature

Bud is a therapeutic horticulture programme for adults who are experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, or long-term health conditions. Set in our welcoming outdoor allotment space, Bud offers a calm, non-judgemental environment where participants can develop practical skills, build meaningful connections, and improve their overall wellbeing.

Through gardening, food growing, cooking outdoors, and working together as a group, participants gain a sense of purpose, structure, and achievement. Every session ends with a warming bowl of homemade soup — prepared from vegetables grown on the allotment by participants themselves.

Bud is open to adults of all abilities and backgrounds. No gardening experience is needed — just a willingness to get involved and a desire to grow.

One of the most popular parts of Bud — participants grow the vegetables, prepare the ingredients, and share a hot bowl of soup together at the end of every session. It's a simple but powerful moment of community, teamwork, and pride in what you've created.
